The Power of Appreciation
A nice word does something to a human. Let’s be honest, it feels good to hear that what you are doing is appreciated and valued. Especially if the words are personal. In fact, sharing kudos between colleagues has many positive impacts, like resilience against tough times, increased personal performance, a happier team (goes without saying, doesn’t it…), and more engaged team members. Of course, it’s important for a manager to send out praise to the team, but it will never get truly personal. However, getting kudos from the people you work closely with, aimed directly to you, is personal.
